Today, as you leave with a diploma on hand, remember the encounters, the good times as well as the bad times you’ve experienced at Senator Renato “Compañero” Cayetano Memorial Science & Technology High School that made us a better person. The sun will rise and it’s rising very soon. Are you experiencing the night of your life right now? Don’t worry you will have your day after the night. Schuller reminded us, “Tough times never last, but tough people do.” Also, remember that “Day always follows the night as there’s rain after summer.” I managed to survive the rainy season and am now starting to work on summer. I know there are still a lot of things like this out there waiting for me, but always remember what Robert H. But these experiences didn’t bring me down because I didn’t want them drag me down. True, what I’ve just shared to you are my sad experiences. Because of the social issues that occurred between me and my teachers, I was not able to make it to the top when I was on my 6th grade. I strived hard and managed to be consistently on top of the class. I didn’t turn out to be a full-fledged musician.ĭuring my elementary days, I always dreamed of being the best. I even thought of enrolling in some of the prestigious conservatory school of music in the Philippines, but my family couldn’t afford it. When I was a child, I loved music so much and I dreamed of becoming a professional musician. We have already heard inspiring stories of successful people, and as I have noticed, failure is the common ingredient that seemed to add flavor to the final dish of what they have cooked. This applies to what we are right now.Īnd so, my fellow graduates, we are gathered here tonight to reap more than all the combined product of the thirst, hunger, exhaustion, & sleepless nights we encountered en route to this exciting moment.Īs we happily walk our way up to this stage, but please do not take it literally, we sometimes falter and fumble. When you plant a corn seed on a healthy soil, you don’t get a corn seed but a corn, right? It’s because the harvest is always greater than what is planted as long as we nurtured them properly. I’m sure everyone knows what a corn seed is. I promise, as King Henry the VIII allegedly promised each of his wives, “Don’t worry, I won’t keep you long.” This speech will last for 5 minutes and 2 hours. I am greatly honored and flattered to have been asked to speak for this very, very wonderful occasion. Thank you.Kevin Yambao Graduation Speech was inspired by Lloyd Luna It has been an honor of my life to have been your commencement speaker. To the graduating class of 2017, congratulations and God bless. ![]() Remember I told you about the only two things I remembered from our speaker on my own graduation? Hopefully, you won’t forget these words either: Ilang beses ka na bang nagseryoso pero sa huli ikaw ang iniwan at hindi sineryoso? Lastly, please don’t take your life so seriously. It only gives you one assurance-that you can try to do anything at any time at any place for as long as you can endure.īut if you should move on with your life with kindness, if you keep your faith in God and in yourself, and if you stay in love in what you do best, amazing things will come your way. Some of you may try many things and terribly fail at all of them.īut please know that it only happens because life doesn’t have any obligation to guarantee your success. Some of you may try one thing and succeed at it. Some of you may stumble and stay on the ground. You are not entitled to some automatic success. Who knows after five more years, may trabaho na sila.įinally, I will tell you one important truth. Wala silang pwedeng takbuhan kapag na-reject ang application nila. Wala yatang maraming available na trabaho so please be a good “employer” to these “highly qualified” job-seekers. Their first day of “non-working holidays” starts tomorrow. To all parents who are present here today, and this is important, be ready to provide temporary shelter and minimum wage to your children. Hopefully, you will serve humanity to the best of your ability. It only remembers those who have made an impact on the lives of the people they serve. The truth is, the world does remember no cum laude, no valedictorian, no best in spelling, no best in writing. ![]() It’s never an assurance of what you will become. Your achievement today may be forgotten soon before you can even land your first job simply because your achievement is nothing but a recognition of what you have become. On the other hand, the wonderful memories and experiences and friendships you made here will last long-perhaps long enough that you can take them off the shelves of your mind when you feel lost, afraid, disappointed. Yeah, an empty piece of paper called “Diploma.” Just like your parents, I am also incredibly proud of what you have come to take home today.
